We are winding down from another holiday - it's hard to believe that this was Ethan's third Christmas already. Last night, we headed to Connellsville for the annual pasta dinner. Ethan had a blast playing with Brayden AND checking out his adorable little sister.
Brayden shows E how to open gifts like a pro!

When we got home, my mom was at our house, ready to wrap presents and then unwrap them with us in the morning. Ethan slept in until 7:30 - pretty good! He was pretty excited to come out and see all of the Thomas wrapping paper under the tree. I will always have Ethan (and future Baby Kovall) have Christmas morning at our own house. I love that tradition of waking up from your own bed to see your own tree!

Getting Started
The four of us unwrapped all of Ethan's gifts and our gifts to each other (look for another post about that!). We really got to take our time to let Ethan play with every toy before moving on. He got a bit overwhelmed at first and seemed freaked out by everything, not to mention he had trouble opening his gifts because he refused to take a Thomas toy my friend Mandi got him out of his hand, so we just slowed it down.
Very cool Handy Manny
Our guests arrived at 11:30. We did round two of gift exchanging. By this point, Ethan was over any gift-opening anxiety. He tore into everything and LOVED it all! He took immediately to torturing Bailey with all of his toys that light up. Poor dog.

We had a wonderful dinner, then headed downstairs to show Ethan his main gift from Santa - the roller coaster! This was a huge hit! The kid has no fear - he went down forwards, backwards, crawled up it, etc.

Everyone left by 3:30, and we did our best to get Ethan to nap. He was exhausted, but so wound up about his new toys. He did get about an hour and a half of rest. He couldn't wait to wake up and wake up Grandma to play some more. We opened his stocking (which I totally forgot about until this evening) and played some more.
It has been a great Christmas. This is Ethan's last Christmas where he won't have to share the spotlight, and he totally lived it up. Regardless of anything else that is happening around us, he is our focus. We can be grateful we have a wonderful, sweet little boy and that we gave him a fantastic day. That's all that matters :-)

We are trying to keep our break stress-free and low-key. I don't know how that will go for us! We have a visit with my side of the family, musical practices, a play date with Jen to meet her new baby, and hair cuts for Ethan and I. Of that list, Ethan's haircut is sure to provide the most stress :-)
