We had a WONDERFUL weekend!
Friday is always great. We work so hard and run full-speed through the week that we don't get to take the time to stop and enjoy each other and our funny son. We try to savior every moment we can because ... this weekend marked the start of the musical's Saturday practices. This will continue every weekend until the show. This schedule has always sucked for both of us, but this year it is extra- rough. AJ hates missing time with Ethan and my poor back hates chasing around a 21 pound baby all day by myself!
But, Saturday was a good day. AJ got up with Ethan at 6:30; they ate and played. I got up at 7:30 and got showered, then took over baby- duty while AJ got ready for the day. Ethan is so fun in the morning - he just talks and crawls around everywhere. His recent fascination is with the kitchen. He high-tails it out there as soon as he can! He took a really long nap (9-11) and then he and I went on a play date at my friend, Jen's house. Her little girl, Alaina, is just the cutest thing! She's about 3 weeks younger than Ethan and so dainty. And, she has her ears pierced - so cute! She greeted us at the door (crawling) with a giant, toothy grin on her face. She has the top and bottom two. She's a quiet thing, but very, very active :-) She pulls herself up and stands - it's so funny to see such a little girl standing up! The babies did very well together. They shared nicely, Alaina touched Ethan's hair, and Ethan babbled the whole time. It was really fun to get out for a bit and catch up. We left around 1:15. Ethan took another nice nap in the afternoon (after two failed attempts - I'd lay him in the crib and before I was even down the
steps, I'd hear him giggling, which soon turned into yelling like a pterodactyl) and before we knew it, Daddy was home! Ethan and AJ spent about a half an hour playing in our hallway upstairs. AJ would bang a plastic hanger on the floor. Ethan would bang a plastic hanger on the floor. Both were giggling in hysterics. I guess you had to be there...
Sunday, we got up and played. E took a short nap and we headed to Eat N Park for brunch buffet. Ethan had his own little plate - mashed potatoes, chunky applesauce, and a pancake. What a feast! AJ's parents met us there and took Ethan to the house. We had all planned on going to church but he was still rubbing his little eyes so we knew that would be a bad plan for him. AJ and I went off to church, only to see that it was PACKED! No place to park, standing room only, so we went straight to Seneca Valley to see their musical, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Our friend, Aaron, is the choir director there so we went to support him. It was AMAZING! They had so many talented kids. We haven't been sold on staying in Seneca Valley, but seriously, if Ethan has any musical ability, it might be a good fit!
Monday was also a big day - Ethan had his 9 month check up! He is doing well - very healthy and thriving! He weighs 21 lbs and is 28 inches - 50th percentile in both. Take that, all of you people who call him fat! He is just right! There's not a lot to report - he is hitting all of his milestones, eating some solid food, etc. No shots this time, either. It was a good appointment! We did learn that we should give him a little water with meals. He is not into any sippy cup, which the doctor thought was totally normal and expected. She suggested letting him sip from a shot glass. Really. So, the past two nights, my 9 month old son has sipped from a Maxim shot glass. Classy. He LOVES it, though!
Enjoy the pics :-)

Cute pictures! He isn't fat. He is a cutie. :)
I am glad he is doing well. I can't wait to see him!
Don't sweat the sippy cup thing. Finley was a brat until she was around 10 months old, and then she finally gave in. :) You can always count on Finley to make your kid look awesome.
The shot glass thing was hysterical! You HAVE to take some video of that!
