First look at their loot!
Our boys have two totally different personalities; Ethan is very much Type A and on the go, go, go. Jack, on the other hand, is super laid-back and content to just chill. This distinction is never more obvious than on Christmas day. Ethan wants to tear through every gift in about two minutes. Jack wants to open his first one, check it out for a few hours, go back to the playroom and chill, then come out and see what everyone else got. It drives Ethan CRAZY! It's hilarious. Ethan was able to coax Jack into opening all of his gifts on Christmas day, which was a miracle. Last year, we were still opening gifts three weeks later.
Jack's first gift. It has a whole play set to it,
but he was most interested in the rocket ship. Surprise.
Ethan got a huge sticker book of Lego Star Wars characters.
He was in heaven.
This was my favorite reaction of the day.
Ethan got his own controller for the Xbox.
He stood up and did a little booty dance when he opened it!
Jack lounging, instead of opening gifts.
My mom bought him a giant moon to hang on his wall.
The kid LOVES anything space related.
Ethan got the Mystery Machine from Grandma.
Jack's second Santa gift (opened 2 hours after we started).
Had Santa realized how LOUD this jet is, he probably would have passed.
But the boys both love it, so...
Jack's favorite gift of the day - a solar system. Such a weirdo.
They are meant to be hung from his ceiling, but he is
having a great time playing with them. We'll wait.
See? Saturn is pretty awesome.
Ethan got a giant Darth Vader from Uncle Ryan.
Bailey is terrified. Ethan loves it, but won't let it
in his room at night :-)
The boys made a fort out of the cool games Santa brought Ethan.
They played in here for a long time.
Here is Jack opening Uncle Ryan's gift...
A giant tent from Planes. It is hilarious!
The boys love getting in there and playing together.
An intense game of Operation. Ethan won.
Papa and Ethan laughing about something. Cute.
Aunt Jenny got Ethan Angry Birds that hook up to the iPad.
He was so excited! He's actually really good at that stupid game.
Jack opening his gift from Grammy & Papa -
his very own train for his room. He loves to play with this!
Below is a picture of what was probably the best purchase Santa made this year - a Leapfrog Explorer GS. Santa went shopping for a few hours on Thanksgiving (shame on you, Santa) because this toy was on sale for $29. Crazy deal, and Santa got it. Ethan got a few games from Santa, Grammy & Papa, and he just LOVES to play it. The best part (well, one of them) is that he can figure everything out on his own. AND, the games are all about reading, math, etc. so it doesn't bother me that he's playing video games. Ok, the actual best part? When Ethan wakes up at 5:30 in the morning and the rest of us normal people are sleeping, he plays this in his room quietly until Jack wakes up at 7:30. Thank you, Santa! That's our holiday. We had a great dinner with our parents, plus my brother and his girlfriend. The boys got a lot of wonderful things, but I think we were able to balance things this year. It wasn't overwhelming. The gifts they got were chosen with care, and they really appreciate each and every one. Our playroom is still somewhat in order, which is a miracle in itself! We've been taking our time and playing with everything over break, spreading out games, Legos (all the Legos...), cars, etc. It has been laid back and great. Merry Christmas!
