It finally hit me that it is, in fact, fall and I do, in fact, have two children who LOVE everything about the season and expect me to decorate! This school year has truly been so busy with my marathon training (one week from today!!!) and Ethan's new schedule as a kindergartner and soccer player. Add a LONG Indian summer to that schedule, and I truly didn't realize how late in the year it is. I was slacking!
We began our late entry into fall last night by making cookies with my mom. They are pretty hilarious. They don't taste very good, but Ethan had an absolute blast decorating them. Jack helped a bit (by licking icing off of the table…) before he banged his mouth off the table, resulting in a very bloody, very swollen lip. It was quite traumatic, but he is doing well today. No worries.
Today, we headed to our favorite fall place - the pumpkin patch. This is truly Ethan's utopia - pumpkins everywhere, space to run, hay to throw. What more could a little boy want? We were blessed with a truly GORGEOUS fall day today (we do those right in Western Pa!) and had a great time. The boys took their time picking out pumpkins. They both loved the smaller ones, but we also picked up a few bigger ones for carving. We'll save that treat for another day, though.
Jack spotted an airplane...
Then we went to the best part - the hay pit. They could stay in there all day long. They are allowed to throw, jump, roll, etc., all without getting in trouble. They were both COVERED and happy when we left.
There was also a little play area with tires and hay stacks for climbing. We were able to get some cute pictures here! Everyone around us was cracking up at the boys - as soon as the camera was pointed at them, they both automatically sang "CHEESE!" over and over until the camera was put away. We trained them well :-)
When we got home, we did some much needed yard work and decorating. Ethan is just delighted to have a 'spooky house'. The best part of his day? We let the boys skip nap time to help us. They were both in great spirits and were having so much fun outside that we just ran with it. I'm just happy to have something festive up there! We ended our evening with a dress up session. The boys are going to be AWESOME this Halloween! I am sure Jack will not just go along with whatever Ethan's into for much longer, so I took advantage of his nonchalance. He is the cutest little Yoda ever! And Ethan is giddy to have a light saber, so it's a win win!
