Summer, Week One

We have had a great week being home with the boys. Not that they've noticed it's vacation - we've been up every day by 6:30.

On Sunday, AJ ran his first 5k with me and a few of our friends. We did the Color Me Rad series, which is awesome. It's very laid back, and the point is to get as covered in color as you can. They have color stations throughout the run, and people douse you as you run through. It was a great time, and AJ is now officially a runner :-)
The BEFORE shot...
And, AFTER...
We were COVERED!
We've decided to take the boys to the baby sitter's every Tuesday so AJ can teach lessons all day; lessons don't start until next week, so we got a nice grown up day this week. We went for a nice run together, did some yard work, relaxed in peace and quiet. It was awesome! Ethan is also going to school two mornings a week; I want him to keep up with the skills he'll need for kindergarten, plus he's bored and loves going to see his friends. Win, win.
Ethan drew this at school this week.
In the bottom left corner is "God playing frisbee."
We've had crappy weather this week, so we haven't gotten too much time outside, but we've made the most of it. We got the kids this little pool for the yard, and they LOVE it! It's just the right size, and they will play in there until they are pruny and blue.

We also try to take the boys on one 'field trip' a week in the summer, just to mix up the routine. We chose the zoo this week, and it was a great choice. The weather was cool, and the animals (and we) loved it. We got a membership, so we are looking forward to spending many days there this summer.
Loving the new wagon -
a gift for Jack (and us).
Ethan was so into reading the map.
 Live animals - pretty much
 Both boys LOVE the aquarium.
Jack stood by this tank for 30 minutes talking to the fish.
 Shark bait…
We have another busy week ahead of us. On Sunday, we will not only celebrate Father's Day, but we will also celebrate Jack's 2nd Birthday. Hard to believe! Then, we will be getting ready for a long weekend at the beach for my cousin's wedding - I can't wait! Jack's never been to a 'real' beach, and Ethan LOVES the beach; add that to seeing my family, and it's going to be an awesome trip :-)
