Check Up/Check In - Jackson

Yesterday, we finally took Jackson for his 15 month appointment. Little man is doing great - he babbled and ran all over the office, much to the amusement of his doctor. Everything looks great - he is 30.5 inches (short guy - 25%), 23.5 lbs (38%), and he is in the 55% for his big head. He got two shots, plus his flu shot, so the appointment did not end well for him. Jack is our kid who never cries, so when something bad happens (like 3 needles getting jammed into his pudgy legs...), he really lets us hear it. Poor guy.

Other Jack news: he now says "doggie" - this was Ethan's first word, so we love hearing Jack say it just as cute as Ethan used to. He loves to go up to Bailey, pet her and say "doggie" over, and over, and over. Bailey is a good sport and lets him. She does prefer Jack to Ethan - probably because Jack is a messier eater and she gets to lick up his messes.

Other words he enjoys: quack (especially when he sees a duck), hiiiiiiiii (this is my favorite), NO (with emphatic head nod), ouch (he needs this word often).

Our easy going child has shown us moments of pure toddleresque tantrums. Ethan had his first fit at 13 months - he threw himself down (on his bum) on the ground and screamed. Not to be outdone, Jackson throws himself, face first, on the ground and continuously bangs his head off of the ground until we pick him up. Dumb dumb is going to give himself a concussion. It is so funny, though. At least for a second. He does not appreciate being told "No." Oh, boy.

Jack also seems to have more of an athletic side than Ethan ever did (to this very day...). He loves to run around the house kicking a soccer ball. He keeps with it pretty well for a little guy. Maybe we will have one child who plays a sport instead of spinning around, singing in circles while the other kids play. Jack does love to dance, though. The second he hears music, it's dance party time, complete with clapping for himself.

He continues to be an amazing eater. He will literally open that little robin mouth for anything. He usually eats just as much as Ethan, if not more. He is a much slower eater than Ethan, though. Dinner time is an hour-long experience with Jackson. He takes the time to savor every bite.

We are really looking forward to going through the fall season with him this year. It is our favorite time of year - we have great memories (and pictures!) of Ethan at pumpkin patches, running through huge piles of leaves, dressed up in costume, painting pumpkins, etc. Last year Jack was too small to partake in the fall fun, but this year - LOOK OUT!
