Today we went for Ethan's 4 week check-up. He is a big boy! He really grew! He is now 8 lbs, 7 oz and 24.25 inches! We knew he had filled out a bit, but we never guessed he'd be so big! The doctor was really pleased with his growth and how well he has been eating. He is up to 4 oz of formula every 4 hours - much better than every 2.5 to 3 hrs! The good thing is that at night, he sleeps between his feedings so we are more rested. The bad news is that during the day, he doesn't really rest. He has crazy gas issues and wakes himself up, all red, pulling his knees up, and screaming. It's been rough! It's so hard when they are so small and you don't know what they need, and sometimes he just can't calm down. We talked to the doctor about it, and she said the gas is an issue, but he is more than likely a little colicky. No fun at all. There's nothing you can really do for that but wait it out. Luckily for us, he's fairly pleasant so the crying doesn't last for too long at one time. Let's hope he grows out of it quickly! Other than that, he is completely healthy and great. It's hard to believe that on Monday, he'll be one month old! This whole month has been a total blur. We are anxiously awaiting the 6 week mark when hopefully, our baby will follow the trend and calm down a bit! We are sleepy! But, the grandparents have been very helpful - they come up a day or two each week so we get a little break at night. It's awesome!
Ethan has met a lot of new people lately - this weekend, we went to the Pirate Game with AJ's family and Ethan met cousins Debbie and Bruce and Aunt Jeanie. It was so nice to be out of our house, too! Then we went to my cousin Amanda's graduation party (I cannot believe she is that old!) and met my entire family. My little cousins were so infatuated with Ethan - they were so interested in holding him and watching him, and grabbing anything we needed. I need them to move in! Yesterday, our friend's Marge and Larry came for a visit. We had a nice dinner, and Marge even got Ethan to rest for a little bit. Maybe she needs to move in, too!

My goodness he is growing fast! He is so big! I looked at Finley's baby book and she wasn't 8 pounds OR 24 inches until she was 2 months old, and she started bigger than Ethan! Wow! He is going to be tall like AJ I think .:) The pictures are great! He is so cute. I love seeing his eyes open. He will settle into a routine. Keep it up. Just remember, when you think it is time for him to take a nap, put him down for a nap. He will start to get the idea and will start napping betting during the day, AND sleeping better at night. Trust me on this concept! :)
